Are you suffering from shoulder, neck or back pain, sports injuries, tennis elbow, sciatica, arthritis, headaches, migraines, menstrual pain, joint pain or nerve pain? Did you know that Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine may assist in the treatment of these problems? Acupuncture for shoulder pain and acupuncture for neck pain may be effective in your case.

How Does Acupuncture for Pain Relief in Melbourne Contribute to Wellness?

Whenever the free flow of qi and blood is obstructed, pain can develop.  Acupuncture attempts to unblock the channels and reduce the level of pain. It may also improve your ability to deal with pain, and may regulate the negative emotions associated with pain, such as fear, anxiety and frustration.

What Do We Use for Musculoskeletal Back Pain Treatment?

We use acupuncture (electro acupuncture), cupping, guasha and moxibustion to help relieve acute or chronic pain associated with musculoskeletal issues. Here is some information about each of these treatments at our pain management clinic:

Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves the use of herbs during acupuncture to aid the detoxing function. Herbs are added

at the acupuncture points. A moxa cone is occasionally used that contains the herbs and attaches to the acupuncture needles. Warmth may be felt at those points.

Electro-Acupuncture

Electro-Acupuncture uses a low current that is connected to the acupuncture needles in order to shift qi (energy). Your practitioner will carefully control the flow of current throughout your body to ensure appropriate acupuncture for neck pain or other areas.

Cupping

Cupping is a form of alternative medicine where a therapist lights a fire in a cup then places this special cup face downwards onto your skin, creating a suction effect. Cupping may be used to support good blood flow, relaxation and wellbeing, as well as pain ailments.

Spooning (Guasha)

Known by many names, spooning, guasha, kerokan or coining involves a practitioner using a tool to scrape your skin, which causes slight tissue damage. This is believed to have a rejuvenating and healing effect on the body
